I get emails and phone calls on a weekly basis from companies asking if I will review their products or accommodation establishments. I do tend to decline the majority as I feel what I promote reflects on me as a person as well as a “brand”. Don’t get me wrong some of the opportunities I get asked to review are awesome, but unfortunately are not “me” and any product or place I review I want the client to know I am giving them my honest opinions, but when I received and email from Ben at JORD watches there was not second guessing, it was a YES immediately.
If I am perfectly honest with you I don’t consider myself a watch type of girl but it definitely has its uses in my line of work. I am sure most of you know that weddings are relatively stressful and are run like clockwork (excuse the pun), I always walk around with the wedding schedule tucked in my skirt or shirt as it’s vital to be at the right places at the right TIME. It tends to look unprofessional if you look at your smart phone to check time constantly, this is where I consider a watch most important.
We are living in the age of the smart phone and the idea of wearing a watch has slowing drifted away to the point where you rarely see any people wearing them anymore. The watch has become a fashion statement, just another piece of jewellery that expresses you as a person. I like to think wearing a watch is rather refined and has a hint of sophistication to it! (:
So why didn’t I second guess collaborating with JORD? Well to be honest, they had me at “Wood”. I am easy like that. I try to be super conscious about sustainability and the use of natural products. It is really difficult in this day and age, but I do try.
My watch choices for reviewing were: Ely, Sully and Fieldcret. I choose the Ely, I wanted something that would “pop”. This watch is beautifully hand-crafted in elegant deep reds with eye catching silver accents. The attention to detail in this watch is obvious when you see it from the smooth links, the carefully engraved JORD logo on the back of the watch to the little JORD pillow and wooden box that your watch comes in. This watch definitely screams sophistication and a sense of pride from JORD.
Yes, these watches are not cheap, price range between $100 – $300 (excluding postage) and with our Rand/Dollar Exchange Rate currently, it would be would be seen as luxury and not as a necessity.
As mentioned before I was lucky to be given one, which leads me to be able to GIVE ONE LUCKY PERSON a $75 discount voucher! Everyone who enters will receive a $20 discount voucher regardless. All you have to do is follow this link to enter, follow @woodwatches_com and @sharynhodges on Instagram. GOOD LUCK!
In summary, this watch is more than just a watch, I see it as a beautiful piece of jewellery that expresses me as an individual that I am really happy to wear to on daily basis. It accompanies me to shoots (wedding, family, events etc.), beach time with my Dani (my golden retriever), tennis, shopping, hiking and, and, and…
I absolutely love the use of wood and this is real treat for anyone who is interested in getting something different for themselves or a loved one. Go on, spoil yourself!
