What happens when you mix wine, cheese, gold spray paint and a soda stream machine…? Why the second night of Plett’s food and Film Festival of course. As a huge lover and supporter of the incredible wine culture Plett has created over the years tonight’s theme was one I was incredibly excited for…and they did not disappoint. The venue was packed to capacity with everyone sipping, tasting and comparing the different wines on display. As a lover of all things food as well the evening just kept getting better with each farm also pairing their food with a scrumptious something to accompany their beautiful wine…..where it was bite size canapés, a hearty curry or a delicious pate. These pairing were little matches made in Heaven and were an absolute joy to discover as one walked from table to table.
Suzelle was the celebrity guest for the evening and she did not disappoint. Known for her hilarity while demonstrating various DIY projects on her famous YouTube channel she had everyone in stitches from the word go. The theme was how to throw a dinner party and Suzelle was on a mission to teach us all how to be FANCY! From décor to canapés to homemade champagne she covered it all! I found her gold flower vases a fabulous idea and will be definitely be trying this in the future. Her homemade champagne however I may need to gather a little bit of courage to try. The only women I have ever known to use a soda stream machine to make homemade champagne she had all in laughing out loud as she created her fancy champagne cocktail. I am sure many a wine maker shook their head during this segment but it only made us love her more. And I heard a rumour that her edible forks were to die for.
The movie of the night was A Good Year. An incredible film about a man’s journey to find out what truly matters in life while missioning around the gorgeous French country side in a delight Lyly small smart car. This movie was a feast emotionally and visually and had us all engrossed from beginning to beautiful ending longing for a day in the French sunshine with a person we adore sipping French wine. A feel good movie that paired wonderfully with the evening. And to end off the evening we all rushed outside to get a SUZELFIE! I must say I did push my way to the front and managed to sneak in two with this wonderful YouTube star and saw many a delighted kid running to tell their parents they had met their DIY hero. It was a wonderfully evening enjoyed by all who went…..I cannot wait to sink my teeth into the final night of this year’s film festival….it promises to be a one to remember.
