Once again my “job” has taken me on an adventure!
Even though I “lost” yet another camera (RIP Nikon D750), I am sure my Insurance company loves me! I had a BLAST!
There is no doubt that the Tsitsikamma region is breathtakingly beautiful and in particular Tsitsikamma National Park. Probably known best for the start of the epic Otter Trail. But there is SO much more that can be done and seen around the Park. Hiking around the coastline and having fun on one of three suspension bridges, camping in your own caravan or tent or renting out a wooden cabin or just enjoying a good cup of coffee at the restaurant and taking in the spectacular views and waves crashing over the rocks just a few meters from you. This place is MAGICAL!
Even with all these amazing activities you can always add more and Untouched Adventures offers Kayak and Lilo Adventures up the Storms River Mouth.
The popular activity lasts for approximately 2 – 3 hours. After a quick safety briefing (safety first), we embarked on our Kayaks from the harbour (if sea conditions are too rough, a hike to the suspension bridge awaits you!), my guide paddled over the ocean to the famous Suspension Bridge (77m long) from there we entered the Storms River Gorge and I can’t explain the feeling of how “small I felt”, probably the closest I would feel to be on a Jurassic Park set. Paddling through the still pools we reach a bat cave (hope you wearing a hat!).
Once you reach the “rocks” you will disembarked from your Kayaks and onto inflatable Lilos, these are not your ordinary pools Lilos, they are super sturdy (if you have balance, attempt standing) from here you will paddle deeper into the gorge and experience parts of Storms River you can’t get to by boat!
Heading back there will be one final stop, some cliff jumping. It doesn’t look that high, but by the squeals and constant “I can’t do this” (usually girls), I can tell you it’s high!
From there you will head back either over the ocean (or hiking back). The guides are so awesome and full of fun and laughs. No experience is needed for this.
Untouched Adventures also offer snorkeling in the tidal pools.
A highly recommended MUST!
